Hailstorm in church st

Yo! 🙋 Got my marathon picture. Good lord, I did not pay for that thing.

On the 29th, Bengaluru got hit with a heavy hailstorm. I was in office when it started. Coming out of a meeting room, I stopped. The sky outside had gone completely grey, visibility was near zero, and water was streaming in from the service balcony. The cleaners were already trying to push it back out. That's when I noticed it: ice, floating in the water. Actual hailstones.

Naturally, I had to see this up close. Ran up to the 9th floor, but the doors were shut. Through the glass, the entire floor was covered in hailstones. Then I went down to the ground floor instead and just stood there watching: heavy wind, rain, and stones pelting everything in sight.

Getting home was a whole thing. I managed to find an office cab and made it to the metro. The next day, I found out the bookstores on Church Street had flooded. Thousands of books, damaged. The drainage systems were there, but the hailstones had blocked them completely, so the water backed up straight into the buildings. Bookworm posted about it, and the comments were full of people offering to help. That part was nice to see.

A few days later, on May 2nd, I headed to Devakottai, Tamil Nadu. Mom made dosa with multiple chutneys, and we had a banana leaf dinner. Simple, but exactly what I needed.
