My First Marathon
Yo!🙋 For World Book Day, Sadhana gifted me Watchmen, while I got her Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar. A good trade.
Sunday was special. I ran my first marathon, thanks to Ritik dragging me into it. Yes, people had opinions about whether 4.2 km counts as a marathon. But for someone who has never crossed a finish line, it counts. The road was alive in a way I didn't expect. People were cosplaying everywhere, Spider-Man included. One guy showed up in a full angel costume, wings and all, and we genuinely wondered how he'd manage. He flew past us. RCB chants filled the gaps between the cheers. Most participants were walking, but Ritik kept nudging me to at least hold a steady jog, so I did.
The thing is, I've always loved being active outdoors. Put me in a game and I light up. But somehow, running never made it onto my list. This marathon changed that. I actually enjoyed it, and now I want to run regularly. The only problem is that my neighborhood is packed with stray dogs, and I'd rather not become their morning entertainment.
